About Stryker

Our Story

Originally called Impulse, Stryker hit the road in 1984, traveling the 12 state midwest region.  During that time, Stryker performed at the MN State fair, regional fairs, clubs and private events. Including opening  for some well-known bands: The Guess Who, Mitch Ryder & The Detroit Wheels, Head East, Pinkard & Bowden, The Flamin' Ohs and Jonah & The Whales.

In 2002 Stryker relocated to Rochester, MN.  The band took a break when Roberta went to PA school, eventually reforming in 2024.

Carl Stephenson - lead guitar/vocals

One of the founding members of Stryker, Carl is well known to the Rochester music scene. Carl started playing guitar when he was 10 and hasn't stopped since.  When he isn't performing with Stryker you can catch him in 2 Birdz, Bird & the Boys,  LP and the 45s, Incognito, or fABBAulous. He has also played with the Linda Ronstadt, Aretha Franklin and Heart tribute bands.

Roberta (Bird) Stephenson - Bass/lead vocals

Roberta is a founding member of Stryker and brings both the groove and the grit as the band’s bassist and female lead vocalist. Sharing vocal duties with Adam she adds power, harmony, and heart to the band’s signature classic rock and pop sound. Her strong sense of rhythm and energetic stage presence make her a driving force in every performance. Alongside her husband Carl—also a founding member—Roberta helped shape the band from the ground up, and continues to bring passion and pulse to every show.

You can also catch Bird and Carl as the duo 2 Birdz or their trio, Bird & The Boys
